Mira Awad - Arabic Fusion

​Singer, songwriter and actress. Born to Palestinian father-Anwar, and Bulgarian mother-Snejanka, in the Palestinian village Rameh in the Gallillee, north of Israel. Mira started singing from an early age, her first stage performance was at the age of 9, and at 13 she started writing her own songs, and from the age of 17 she sang with the rock band “Samana”. After a couple of years at the Haifa university, studying Fine Arts and English Literature, Mira decided to quit and move to Tel-Aviv where she studied Music at the Rimon School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Throughout her career Mira developed a unique fusion of sounds, combining the East with the West, weaving the Arabic language and it's oriental ornaments with Western harmonies, thus creating a rich tapestry of sounds and a true world music performance. Mira has collaborated with a wide range of world-famous musicians: Noa (Achinoam Nini), world music artist  Idan Raichel, David Broza, George Dalaras, La oreja de Van Gogh, Orphaned Land, Andrea Bocelli and Bobby Mc'Ferrin. She also performs with the world music collaboration Transit Trio.

Mira competed in the Eurovision song contest 2009 alongside Noa with the song "There must be another way" from their duet album carrying the same name, released by Universal Music. Her debut solo album "Bahlawan-Acrobat" was released May 2009, produced by Israeli guitarist Amos Ever-Hadani. She was signed as a Sony Spain artist in 2011 and released her second album "All my faces" with Spanish musical producer Carlos Jean.

In December 2012 she decided to leave Sony and establish 

LabelFree, her own indie world music label.  

Mira is also a famous actress, her resume includes leading role in the musical "My Fair lady", and in high rating tv series "Arab Labor". She worked at the Tel-Aviv Cameri theatre for 5 years, and is currently working at the Arab-Hebrew theatre in Jaffa. She has also written music for theatre, won Best Music Award for the monodrama "Not Noah's ark", and Best Music Award for the music she composed for theatre piece "Eyes" (based on the writings of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish).

Mira is very much identified with the agenda of dialogue and co-existence among people and with the environment, raising a call for human solidarity everywhere in the world.
